Taylor Winnie Hughes is a full-time third semester student in the Television track of NAIT’s Radio and Television program. Taylor also works part-time as a Social Media Coordinator with The Nugget – NAIT’s student newspaper. Taylor volunteers for the Radio and Television program and The Nugget when the opportunity arises.
Taylor was born in Edmonton and has lived in the Edmonton area her entire life. She spent the first 16 years living in Devon, Alberta, but moved out young and started working to pay rent. She powered through part-time work and full-time schooling, graduating with honours from Spruce Grove Composite High School in 2016. She has lived in many communities surrounding Edmonton and moved into the city six years ago.
Taylor is passionate about art, languages and culture, video games and technology. In her spare time, Taylor loves to create things and her idea of a “lazy day” is to spend the day reading a book or studying French, Spanish or Tagalog. She is in the constant pursuit of new knowledge and heavily values personal growth and communication. She also cares deeply about media literacy and free access to accurate and reliable information. Taylor donates to Wikipedia yearly to support the pursuit of free information worldwide.
Taylor currently hopes to work in traditional news, with an end goal of working on national and international news stories. Taylor loves to edit and is looking forward to starting to dive into Adobe After Effects this semester and get more experience with motion tracking, 3D modelling and animating.
