With October approaching, many streaming platforms like Netflix release movies to knock your socks off from terror. To this day, Netflix remains the most used streaming platform, yet some viewers don’t know the best horror movie to dive into to endure the spooky season. Here are the top five Horror movies on Netflix.
The Conjuring– Directed by James Wan, this movie was inspired by the infamous paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren from the 1970s and 1980s. This movie and its series were based on events that the Warrens investigated. If you like true-story paranormal movies, this is the one for you. After the movie’s release, it was rated 7.5/10 by Rotten Tomatoes, and its box office revenue was an impressive $319.5 million.
IT– Directed by Andy Muschietti, this movie is based on the iconic 1986 novel by Stephen King. With the first “IT” released in 1990, this 2017 remake sure was a shock of horror. Afraid of clowns or not, it will make you leave questioning your fear of clowns. This movie has the most jump scares and gore of the five picks. With a solid rating of 7.3/10 by Rotten Tomatoes and a box office of $701.8 million, it all shows that this is a must-watch for any horror fan.
Hereditary– Directed by Ari Aster, this was a true horror with a variety of emotions. With stellar acting, you wouldn’t be able to take your eyes off this movie as more of the story unfolds. With crazy plot twists and chilling paranormal activities within the movie, it describes the perfect horror. Its box office was $87.8 million and a whopping rating of 7.3/10 by Rotten Tomatoes.
The Black Phone– Directed by Scott Derrickson, this film could be categorized as a thriller and horror due to its fewer jump scares, but the essence of this movie and its story still gives you the chills, just like any horror movie. With outstanding acting and a unique blend of plot twists and emotional factors, it stands out. The Black Phone achieved a box office of $161.4 million and a rating of 6.9/10 by Rotten Tomatoes.
Scream– Directed by Wes Craven, this film is one of the most popular, and many have watched, heard about, or recognized it from the costumes worn. It’s more than a horror; it’s a mystery, a guess who? You try to figure out who the killer may be. Because Scream did so well, it is currently in development for a seventh movie. With this thrill of a movie, its box office performed an amazing $173 million, along with a 7.4/10 rating from Rotten Tomatoes.
