As the school year winds down, many of you go out to celebrate by visiting local bars. Here are some of my top suggestions for places to go for drinks.
1. Horseshu Lounge: This is a sports bar in the North End. I recommend going on Tuesdays for 50-cent wing night. The staff provide wonderful service. The kitchen serves great wings, and the bar offers reasonably priced drinks. And it is usually quite peaceful, though I would suggest avoiding it during Oilers games when it gets packed. There is always something to do, even for those who aren’t sports fans, such as an electronic trivia game.
2. The Druid Irish Pub: This is an Irish-style pub with great food, drinks, and an even better vibe. I suggest visiting on a Wednesday for “Tipsy Trivia,” which includes bingo, trivia, and live music, or on Sunday for karaoke. It is on Jasper Avenue, close to Rogers Place. Be sure to order a pint of Guinness.
3. ECHO Karaoke & Lounge: This is an excellent karaoke bar for parties or a night out with friends. Offering good food and cocktails. It is reservation-only and features a wide selection of songs, helpful staff, and various private karaoke rooms. And while it is on Calgary Trail, a bit of a trek from school, it is well worth the visit.
These are just a few of the many wonderful bars in Edmonton. So if you’re looking for a night out, consider checking them out, and please remember to celebrate responsibly and remember: don’t be dumb and don’t drink and drive.
