NAIT offers a variety of resources and hidden gems on campus that you may not know about. With over 32,000 Indigenous students enrolled in post-secondary institutions across Canada, NAIT’s Nîsôhkamâtotân Centre is dedicated to supporting Indigenous students throughout their journey at NAIT.
The Nisohkamatotan Centre is a gathering space on NAIT’s main campus, intended for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students. This centre provides an environment where students can collaborate, study, and engage in discussions about their experiences in post-secondary education. The centre’s mission is to create a more inclusive community at NAIT by honoring traditional Indigenous knowledge and teaching practices, while also drawing inspiration from Indigenous communities.
Starting post-secondary can be stressful for Indigenous students who are new to the environment, the Nisohkamatotan Centre aims to ease the stress through support and resources such as funding options, financial planning and housing options. Located on NAIT’s main campus, anyone can visit the Nisohkamatotan Centre, although the centre provides services and programs for Indigenous students, all NAIT students are welcome to visit and share their learning experiences with fellow students who are in the same boat.
The Nisohkamatotan Centre aims to support the academic, cultural and social needs of Indigenous students here at NAIT. The benefits of having an Indigenous resource centre are endless. The centre benefits Indigenous students through cultural and academic support, a sense of belonging, reconciliation, representation and much more. This helps Indigenous students thrive in post-secondary.
Many resources are available at the Nisohkamatotan Centre, including financial resources, counselling services, volunteer opportunities and more. For Indigenous students attending NAIT, the centre offers various cultural events focused on Indigenous teachings including,

- Women’s Circles
Along with the many different services and programs that the Nisohkamatotan Centre offers they are committed to ensuring Indigenous student success. The centre aims to do this through programs, services and initiatives while fostering an inclusive environment for all post-secondary students.
NAIT’s Nisohkamatotan Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., located in the E Technical Building on the main floor of NAIT’s campus.
