“What is one thing that every NAIT student should know?” If you ask me, that’s a pretty tough question. No two NAIT students are the same, so coming up with one thing that applies to every student is, honestly, pretty difficult. I don’t think there is one cookie-cutter answer since everyone’s goals and experiences are different. Everyone will have something different that’s important for their studies. I decided I would ask my fellow NAIT students and staff what they thought. Three main things kept coming up.
Food at NAIT
School is really hard on an empty stomach. Why not make studying easier? NAIT has a ton of yummy food options everyone should know about. Getting hot, delicious food on campus supports our culinary students. The Artisanal Market, Fresh Express and the bakery are a few of the places on campus where your fellow NAIT students can cook or bake for you.
NAITSA
NAITSA is there for all of us. They have so many great programs to help make your life easier and to make your experience here at NAIT even better. From free snacks, fun events, counselling, the emergency food center and even discounted movie tickets, NAITSA has your back. They want to see us all succeed here at NAIT.
Putting in the effort
One automotive instructor said, “effort equals reward,” and he is completely correct. Doing everything to the best of your ability makes the biggest difference. Finding spaces that are calm and quiet makes it so much easier to put in that extra bit of effort. Or even to decompress after a long day of classes. The NAITrium (J104) is a great option. Putting in the time and doing the small things is what gets you far in life, so why not start now at NAIT?
By the time I had finished talking to people, I finally had an answer. Confidence. Going up to random strangers takes confidence, and so does going to NAIT. You can’t achieve your goals without confidence. Coming to NAIT at any age can be scary. It’s the first step towards your career. You need to believe in yourself and have confidence when you receive your acceptance letter and commit to studying at NAIT. Confidence and believing in yourself will get you farther than any burger or discounted movie ticket will. I think confidence is the most important thing any NAIT student should know.
