April and the winter semester are coming to a close at NAIT. This means students will finally be free to relax for the summer and work to make money during their time off. Now, students are left confused, troubled or questioning what to do with an empty schedule.
Thankfully, the Explore Edmonton website provides everyone with an answer. Explore Edmonton has a calendar where it shows scheduled events around Edmonton, and where they are located. Here are five big events that are happening.
- Pride Month
Pride Month goes on from June 1st all the way to June 30th. This month celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community and their history. There are various events that are hosted throughout Edmonton for the duration of the month. Events range from Pride parades, markets, block parties and drag queen baseball games.
- Taste of Edmonton
From July 16th to July 26th, the Taste of Edmonton Festival is hosted in Churchill Square which has been celebrated for over 41 years. Over 50 local restaurants and food trucks will attend which leaves over 200 menu items that’ll create an appetite. Over 180 local music artists that will be playing on the McLennan Ross LLP Stage so you can live music while you eat.
- K-Days
For 10 days, K-Days is the best place to be at the Edmonton Expo Centre from July 17th to July 26th. K-Days is a famous event that has been going on for 145 years. It offers thrilling rides, food to lavish in like the fried donuts, markets inside the Edmonton Expo and live concerts. Though don’t home too early, as each day will end with a live firework show to capture your attention.
- Edmonton Heritage Festival
Starting August off, the Heritage Festival at the Edmonton Expo Centre offers cultures for everyone in Edmonton to enjoy. The festival allows you interact with 70 pavilions that represent 90 countries. The pavilions offer food, treats, art and trinkets. You can talk with folks about their cultures, roots and communities around Edmonton.
- AC/DC and Guns N’ Roses Concerts
Coming to Edmonton are two legendary rock bands that you need to see. Both bands will be playing at the Commonwealth Stadium. AC/DC on their Power Up Tour are playing on August 9th. Guns N’ Roses on their World Tour 2026 are playing at the stadium on August 26th. Make sure to get your tickets soon so you can enjoy the live performances from both bands.
Edmonton is a big city, with nearly limitless options for activities and events that are happening everyday. There is plenty of opportunity to attend an event and make tons of fond memories and activities to fill out an empty schedule.
