West Edmonton’s newest casino is now open

Starlight Casino in West Edmonton Mall opened its doors Wednesday after a $57 million renovation. The new casino features 120,000 square feet of entertainment and gaming space, as well as many dining options.

Some of the dining options include:

• MATCH Eatery & Public House
• ATLAS Steak + Fish
• The Buffet
• CHOW Lucky Noodle Bar
• Halley’s Club

Starlight Casino is also the first casino in Western Canada to feature the REPLAY arena, an interactive, multi-sensory space that gives people a new way of gaming in a unique party atmosphere.

The opening of this casino created more than 300 jobs. Many of the game dealers were also sent to Las Vegas for training.

“We feel great about being able to open up this casino and create jobs into the economy. It’s a very exciting time for us and it’s been a really fun process,” says Tony Santo, CEO of Gateway Casino & Entertainment.

The casino held many different events as part of its grand opening including giveaways, live entertainment and food and drink specials. As part of the grand opening celebration, the staff at Starlight Casino partnered up with the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, donating a portion of their food and drink sales to the foundation.

“It’s one more reason to come to Edmonton, one more reason to come to West Edmonton Mall and one more way to give back to the community,” said Mayor Don Iveson, while attending the grand opening.

The casino is donating proceeds until October 31.
