Rainbow Registered helps businesses create more inclusive spaces

Rainbow Registered is partnering with the City of Edmonton to create welcoming spaces for members of the LGBTQI2S+ community.

Rainbow Registered is an accreditation program that recognizes businesses working to provide inclusive experiences for 2SLGBTQI+ customers, employees and visitors.

“So many businesses really want to take a strong position of support for the community, and this is the next step in doing that.” said Landon Turlock, Social Planner for the City of Edmonton

The accreditation can also help customers identify businesses that have taken steps to support inclusion. The program looks over businesses’ policies, staff training and customer service.

“Anybody can put up a pride flag or a flag in their window and say that they’re inclusive. With this program, there’s actually going to be checks and balances to hold the businesses accountable,” said Cody Kotyk, server at Campio, one of the businesses in the process of being accredited.

The accreditation gives businesses an opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to inclusion and helps customers identify spaces working to make people feel welcome.
