NAIT student goes from the farmer’s fields to the news fields

By Admin User on September 14, 2021

Thomas Wildman is an avid sports fan who is excited to be broadcasting. He hopes to work for a sports network or do play-by-play for the Oilers.

Wildman was born in Sangudo, Alberta, the oldest of 3 siblings. Wildman grew up on a farm helping his family with the strenuous task of raising cattle. When the Oilers made it to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2006, Wildman became attached to the sports world.

In 2010, Wildman was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a form of cancer that attacked his respiratory system. Wildman’s breathing was restricted for years until chemotherapy cured his cancer. Since then, Wildman has made a full recovery.

While recovering from chemo, Wildman started watching football and became interested in the sport, later getting into fantasy football and soon watching the professionals at work. Watching football and hockey sparked an inspiration into Thomas, which led him to his desire to be a sports broadcaster.

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be close to sports. I eventually discovered my natural strength at talking, and decided the best way to combine them together was to be a sports broadcaster.
