The Triple Down Terrain Competition wrapped up on Feb. 22 at Sunridge Ski Area, concluding a three-stop ski and snowboard terrain park competition across Edmonton.
The freestyle competition was co-partnered by Rabbit Hill Snow Resort, Snow Valley Ski Club and Sunridge, with events held on Feb. 1 at Rabbit Hill, Feb. 8 at Snow Valley, and concluding at Sunridge.
The event is open to participants ages five and older, with multiple age divisions that include:
• Grom: 11 and under
• Teen: 12 to 17
• Adult: 18 plus
• Parent: 35 plus

Skiers and snowboarders at Sunridge competed across three terrain parks – the Porcupine, Yellowhead and Big Park – featuring rails, boxes and jumps.
Riders were given multiple runs throughout the competition, judged on:
• Execution
• Difficulty
• Overall performance
Organizers say the competition has been running for more than 10 years and continues to bring together Edmonton’s winter-sport community, with exponential growth each year.
“It’s always been kind of a focus on fun and just getting this community out and hanging out together,” said Jocelyn Wetterberg, a Rabbit Hill event organizer.
Each hill hosted one independent event, with standings determined per competition rather than a cumulative tour champion. Despite podium finishes, organizers say the competition is really about the effort in trying.
“For the love of the sport, like everybody loves it – so it’s really fun to have a day where we’re all just together,” said Sam Divincenzo, an experience coordinator at Sunridge.
Officials anticipate similar participation numbers as the series enters its second decade.
Organizers say the three-hill format is expected to return next season, with planning already underway for 2027 dates. Registration typically opens in early winter.
