Edmonton Oil Kings close out regular season schedule

By Jordan Gyman on March 23, 2026

The Edmonton Oil Kings closed out their regular season schedule against the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday. The game ended 7-1 for the Oil Kings.

“I thought the guys came out and, you know, competed. I think the game was a little bit sloppy at points. But, you know, it was nice to see, you know, some of the younger guys get an opportunity to play a little bit more,” said head coach Jason Smith, after the game.

Lukas Sawchyn led the Oil Kings with one goal and three assists, while goaltender Parker Snell saved 30/31 shots against the Hitmen

“Yeah, it was great. I mean, I think, it’s been something that’s been, you know, part of our group all year. We’ve been able to use a lot of guys on the bench and not have a lot of guys sitting around not playing a lot. And, you know, a game like today, guys played in different situations and got the opportunity to earn ice and play regular shift and didn’t have to tax anybody too much out there.”

The Oil Kings start their playoff run on Friday against the Saskatoon Blades.
