Your Central Alberta summer music festival guide

By Kelsey Kliparchuk on April 9, 2025

Calling all music lovers, it’s time to get your tarps and sunscreen out because festival season is upon us.

Here in the capital city, we’re known as “Canada’s Festival City.” With over 50 unique festivals to choose from annually here in Edmonton, not including the festivals that are just a road trip away, there are plenty of good times to be made in between semesters.

Live music events are making a huge comeback after 2020 and are finally nearing pre-pandemic levels.

Here are 8 music festivals to check out this summer in Central Alberta:

  • Beaumont Music Festival: June 20-21
  • North Country Fair (Driftpile):  June 20-22
  • Edmonton International Jazz Festival: June 21-29
  • Rockin’ Thunder: July 11-12
  • K-Days: July 18-27
  • Big Valley Jamboree (Camrose): July 31- Aug 3
  • Pigeon Lake Music Festival (Mulhurst Bay): Aug 1-3
    • Pigeon Lake Concert Series July 5 and Aug 23
  • Edmonton Folk Fest: Aug 7-10

Whether you’re looking to stay local to catch Weezer at the first edition of Rockin’ Thunder or ready to pack the camping gear for a Woodstock-inspired experience at North Country Fair, there’s something for every genre of music-lover!

We know that student life can lead to light pockets, and tickets can get pricey. We recommend volunteering your way into these festivals. Not only can you listen to your favourite artists, but you’re also a part of a vibrant community that brings these festivals to life. Volunteer roles can vary from clean-up crew and greeting guests to helping out in kids’ zones.

Alberta’s festival season is year-round, peaking in the summertime, with more events popping up in the off-seasons.

So what are you waiting for? Get out there and enjoy some live music.
