Why you should visit Ernest’s this holiday season

By Emma Ible on December 11, 2024

Going to a restaurant with my friends has to be one of my favourite things to do on a Friday night, especially when it’s a hidden gem that not many people know about. What if I told you there is one of those special restaurants tucked away in the South Lobby on NAIT’s campus? It’s called Ernest’s, and with over 300 four-and-a-half-star reviews on Google, this place will impress. It features elevated, modern cuisine with elegant service and is reservation only- very exclusive!

During the academic year, the dishes are prepared by NAIT’s culinary students mentored by alumni executive chefs. Booking a table at Ernest’s will send your taste buds to heaven as you try incredibly unique dishes such as:

  • Tuna Kinilaw
  • Swiss chard Salmon mi cuit
  • Mezzaluna pasta
  • Prosciutto-wrapped pork tenderloin
  • or the Pappardelle alla Funghi e Limone

If you don’t know what any of that is, that’s okay! Go on down and try something new, you never know what flavours you’re missing out on until you try them. Big into cocktails? They have a massive variety of carefully crafted cocktails you’ve never tried before, such as:

  • the Empress 75
  • the Apple a Day
  • the Peach Fizz
  • or the Coconut Old Fashioned

They also have wine or beer-pairing events for you and your partner to indulge in on date nights for tickets as low as $99. University magazine voted NAIT Culinary Arts as one of Canada’s top Culinary schools for 2024. The students run the entire restaurant all by themselves to show off their brand-new cooking skills taught in the lab. They are always pleased to welcome guests into their home to serve you, with reasonable pricing and interactive dinner service. Ernest’s has an alumni event going on right now, where NAIT alumni who have taken their talents all over the globe come back to their homes and show off everything they have learned in their real-life experiences- pretty cool!

Don’t forget to follow Ernest on social media as well, where they post fun events they’re hosting, especially for the holidays! Sometimes they also post some recipes, so keep an eye out! Click the link to book a table today! Book Here
