The wonderful world of NR92’s after-hours shows

Picture this: It’s 4 p.m., you just got out of class, and the only thing you have to look forward to is the long commute home. Of course, you could fire up your favorite playlist as usual and continue with the monotonous routine you’ve built for yourself, or you could choose to switch it up, and I have the perfect solution for you: NR92’s after-hours shows.
You may be asking what an after-hours show is, and I am happy to answer. After-hours shows start after 4 p.m. and are completely run by students in the radio and television program. The students are allowed to talk about basically anything they want or play whatever music they want, as long as it’s appropriate for a student radio station, of course.
That all means that there’s a show out there for just about anyone. Shows for sports fans, we got it. Shows like NAIT MMA Corner and The Goal Line are right up your alley. If you’re not into sports and come to the radio for music we’ve got that too. The Pump Up Show will hook you up with all the music you need to survive the rest of the week. If you want more of a variety-type show check out Like You Remember or Album Swap. If none of these shows are up your alley NR92 has many other shows that haven’t been mentioned.
One of the hosts of Like You Remember, Sierra, shared her thoughts on the matter, “I think after-hours shows fill a specific spot that’s lacking in the world of radio and that’s just plain and utter creativity.”. She talked about how most larger radio stations will simply talk about news, music and a bit of pop culture but not anything the hosts are particularly passionate about.
“You get shows that are filled with passion and interest for niche topics. No one else is really doing that.”
