The Value of Sports
By Admin User on April 3, 2020
Well as the world collectively sits around and waits for this strange and unexperienced time to pass. My life has been missing something very close to my heart. Sports. But not only hockey or basketball, I have also begun to miss all sports. Everything that usually comes with the end of winter for sports has just stopped or been cancelled. College basketball’s March Madness, the NHL playoff race was in full force as well as the NBA playoff race and baseball was just around the corner. During these strange times as a sports fan, it has been very difficult to just sit around and have nothing happening. Having nothing come across my phone as breaking news from Sportsnet or TSN.
The only saving grace for my sanity is the fantastic time on year that can’t be stopped by COVID-19! That one thing is, of course, the NFL free agency! The NFL free agency is always a fun time for me personally but even more this year. This year the headlines read Tom Brady, perhaps the greatest football player of all time! Is moving for the New England Patriots to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers!
When I saw this move, I was absolutely floored, I never thought Tom Brady would ever actually leave the Patriots. I defined what it meant to be a Patriot, the whole Patriot way was built around him, winning six super bowls and now going to see that Tome Brady on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Not only that but elite receivers such as Deandre Hopkins and Stefon Diggs were both traded, all-star level players where dropped and signed on different teams. It was absolute insanity and as a needed sports fan, I loved every single second of it!
I miss it all so much, I miss the goals, dunks, fights, shots and games. Everything that makes sports such a valuable piece in so many people’s lives and how much we take it have granted every day till one day it’s gone. Thank you for your time, I hope you all stay safe and we will get through this together sports fans.
