The secret to NAIT’s VIP parking

By Mackenzie Butz on December 12, 2024

Do you get to school late and struggle to find parking?

Or worse, do you get to school on time and struggle to find parking, making you late?

Do you have difficulty finding your vehicle at the end of the day?

Are you tired of the long, cold hike to your vehicle?

Want to avoid getting stuck in a hoard of students leaving at the same time?

If you answered yes to any or all of these, keep reading, because I have a secret that will save you the headache of these problems!

NAIT’s best kept secret, in my opinion, is VIP parking. When I say VIP, I mean ground level, and it is especially valuable this time of year when it’s cold and slippery outside.

What I’m about to say may shock you, but it is completely worth it! To get VIP parking, the secret is to arrive between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. for the best chance at one of these coveted spots. You must be thinking “that’s WAY too early!” and that’s understandable. Look at it as an opportunity to squeeze in a morning workout or catch up on homework. As finals approach quickly, take advantage of any extra time you can get and ensure you finish the semester on a high note.

One thing you need for VIP parking, apart from arriving early, is a parking permit for said parkade. It’s definitely worth it and obviously necessary, unless you’re a fan of parking tickets. You can purchase parking permits for different lengths of time so it aligns with your course schedule. If you don’t currently have a parking permit, but want to get one, you can find more information on the NAIT website under the student parking section.

VIP parking allows for quick access to your vehicle after class so you can sneak out and avoid the craziness of everyone leaving at once. If you park on a higher level, you may have a hard time getting out, but if you park on ground level, AKA VIP, you can avoid this. If you take home equipment or a project, or just have a lot of belongings, on ground level you have a short walk instead of struggling with your things up the stairs or in an elevator filled with students.

Yes, it will take a change in routine, but the benefits are worth it. Join the 6 a.m. club and get yourself a VIP parking spot!
