Speed up your day: Why NAIT students should use e-scooters to get to class faster
By Elin Jordan on November 21, 2025
Nearing the end of the semester here at NAIT, schoolwork and stress are piling up, let alone worries of being late for class.
With rush-hour traffic making students late, unpredictable bus delays, and long walks between buildings, most NAIT students feel rushed and often arrive late to class. Luckily, there is a cheap, fun solution to help students get to class quicker: electric scooters!
E-scooters are the ultimate student life hack for getting to class quickly. There are many located around campus, so finding one is easy and convenient. Instead of walking 10 or more minutes to class, an electric scooter is a fun alternative that gets you there in two minutes, tops.
While most students ignore the e-scooters as they assume they are pricey, they are actually highly affordable. With a $1 unlock fee and a rate of 15 to 30 cents per minute, students would pay just two to three dollars at most to get to class. After asking five students, all of them were shocked by the price, and said that they would try it.
How can you use the e-scooters to get to class easily? Here is a step-by-step guide:
- Use Uber’s website to find a scooter near you. Uber offers the option to reserve the scooter for 10 minutes, which is helpful.
- Once you get to a scooter, scan the QR code and pay to unlock it.
- Put the supplied helmet on, and ride safely to your class.
- Once you arrive, park the scooter in a safe place near you and end your ride in the Uber app.
Although e-scooters are generally very safe, riders must watch for cars and traffic and stay close to the edge of the road. Don’t use your phone while riding, and only one rider is allowed at a time. The scooters are used at your own risk, so be careful.
If e-scooters have helped me get to class on time, they can help other NAIT students too. Try it out, and discover just how quickly they can get you to your class!
