Pedways create a convenient campus commute

Are you a NAIT student who still goes outside to get to your classes in other buildings? Now that we’re entering the colder months, it seems completely silly to even consider stepping outside in temperatures below 0℃.
What if I told you there’s a simple solution, even a shortcut that might be really obvious? Pedways. Did you realize our campus is quite traversable via the many pedways that connect central buildings to each other? If this is news to you, your life is about to get a lot easier.
Here’s a list I’ve compiled of the four pedways that are available to you, campus commuters:
- E Building (Technical Building) — W Building (HP Centre for Information and Communications Technology)
- W Building (HP Centre for Information and Communications Technology) — CAT (Feltham Centre)
- CAT (Feltham Centre) — East Parkade
- U Building (Learning Resources Centre) — V Building (Industrial Technical Building)
As a radio student, I’m lucky enough that my classes are centralized to the V Building. I mainly utilize the U Building to V Building pedway in my spare time, where I can access Fresh Express or Common Market to get lunch or a snack.
I’ve also made use of the W Building to CAT pedway, which has several cozy study spots that most students don’t realize are available. There, you can also find Tim Hortons and Starbucks locations to pick up a coffee or a sweet treat.
Many student services are located in CAT as well, like the computer commons, which has access to printing and other technology when you want a change of scenery while you work on assignments.
Ultimately, I’ve found that NAIT’s pedways are one of the most important resources available to students. They’ve allowed me to discover other parts of campus I wouldn’t normally think of travelling to, and I feel a lot more comfortable in my surroundings as a first-semester student.
So, if you’ve never taken a pedway, I suggest you do so at some point today or in the near future. You might just end up going on an educational adventure.
