Oilers lose to the Stars in a blowout on home ice
By William McAllister on November 26, 2025
Another alarming blowout loss as the Oilers lose to the Stars 8-3.
Game Summary:
Heading into the first period: Benn opens the scoring with a wrist shot, and a pair of goals by Hintz and Bastion put the Stars ahead. At the end of the first period, the Stars were leading by a commanding 4-0 lead. This lackluster performance led to Skinner’s night ending early.
Going into the second period, it wasn’t better, but the spotlight of the game as an Oilers fan occurred as Connor Clattenburg scored his first career goal. But the Stars’ onslaught would continue as Robertson and Johnston scored on Pickard, pushing the game out of sight for the Oilers.
The Oilers would try to make it competitive with a slap-shot goal by Bouchard and a snapshot by Roslovic. But the Stars had an answer for the goals as the game would finish in a devastating 8-3 loss.
The key points from the loss:
It’s clear that the Oilers are still stumbling into the season, as this isn’t the first blowout loss by a Western Conference team.
The fact is that the team has gotten complacent with a subpar defensive system that allows an abundance of high-danger slot shots, which is a recipe for disaster against any scoring line that can move the puck around.
Bowman’s patience with Skinner and Pickard must be wearing thin as the pressure of finding a new goalie is growing with each huge loss.
What’s next?
The Oilers are looking towards moving on from this game. They are off to Seattle to face the Kraken on Saturday at 2 P.M. MST. They will be facing former Oiler and captain of the Kraken Jordan Eberle. The Oilers lost to the Kraken earlier this season 3-2.
