Oilers get demolished at home by the Dallas Stars

By Gaelyn Verdin on November 26, 2025

Tuesday Nov 25, 2025. The Edmonton Oilers faced the Dallas Stars in a heavy matchup that led to an 8-3 loss. The Oilers are currently 10-10-5 sitting 10th in the Western Conference standings, leaving them currently out of playoff contention.

Connor Clattenburg debuted in his second ever NHL game last night, netting his first ever goal, assisted by Ty Emberson and Mattias Janmark. Only two other goals netted last night were scored by Jack Roslovic and Evan Bouchard. This is the slowest start to a season the Oilers have faced in the last 2 years.

During last night’s game Stuart Skinner allowed four goals in the first period, he had eight shots taken on him, which led to him being pulled out of the game after the first period. Calvin Pickard entered the game for the final two periods, which led him to save 18 shots out of the 22 shots taken. They equally struggled in the game resulting in the 8-3 loss.

In the past two years the Edmonton Oilers were one of the best teams in the league making it to the Stanley Cup Final in the last two seasons.  With the Oilers adding pieces and signing Connor McDavid to an extension, the lights were shining bright north of the border.  With the sudden fall from the top for the Oilers franchise, it is leaving many Edmontonians and fans wondering if the recent success of the last two years was just a fluke and that Edmonton is going to have to start another 5-year rebuild.

The Edmonton Oilers will have a three day break until they are back on the road for their Nov 29, 2025 game against the Seattle Kraken for a 2 p.m. MST matinee game.
