Candy Cane Lane is free fun for students

Only a 35-minute bus ride or 18-minute drive from the main NAIT campus, is a brightly lit street that captures the warmth and light of the holiday season in a very special way. Candy Cane Lane has been a bright light in Edmonton for over 50 years, in more ways than one.
Going to Candy Cane Lane is a Christmas tradition for many in Edmonton, and from December 12th to January 2nd, you can experience a nighttime walk down a colourful strip that has been adorned with a healthy dose of Christmas cheer, and at no cost! Recognizing that many of our readers are students, and most of our writers are students, myself included, I know that an event being free is a major selling point.
Located in Edmonton’s Crestwood community, there are so many ways that you can enjoy the lights. You can walk, drive, bike, sled, or even ski down Candy Cane Lane and enjoy the beautiful Christmas displays, all at your own pace.
Candy Cane Lane is free to attend, but they do also collect donations for the Edmonton Food Bank. So if you have some ramen sitting in a cupboard from earlier this term, you could bring it with you and drop it off in one of the bins conveniently placed along the sides of the road.
There are sleigh ride tickets available on the Candy Cane Lane website, along with all the event dates. Tickets are limited, and many nights are already sold out, so make sure to get them before they’re gone!
However you choose to experience Candy Cane Lane, it is sure to be a highlight of your winter break. From all of us at NAIT NewsWatch,
Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
