Beautiful hidden gem of the NAIT campus
By Gage Russell on December 11, 2024
Campus is constantly busy. Most places are always full and buzzing with people. There are little to no truly serine places on NAIT. That is, of course, except for the courtyards within the U building. Within these small snapshots of nature upon the campus, they have some stunning places to kick back and relax. Not only that, but there are a variety of activities and wonderful things to appreciate about them regardless of the season.
Summer
During the summertime season, it’s a great place to get some work done. You can sit out in the sun while you type away on an essay. You can enjoy the summer breeze and the nature and foliage that surrounds you while you do your work.
Fall
When the leaves start falling, it’s the perfect time to be out in the courtyard. You can see the ripening crops planted by the Culinary Arts students. The leaves falling around the gazebo and the cool breeze is the perfect place to enjoy a warm drink and take in the scenery.
Winter
Unfortunately, in the winter, the doors to this courtyard are locked to keep the halls warm. However, this makes it a perfect hang out spot for wildlife. You can see,
- Squirrels
- Finches
- Sparrows
- Chickadees
These creatures all interact within this beautiful, uninterrupted snapshot of the season. All of them unbothered by us passive observers.
The Courtyards are tools you should use a lot more. Their amazing places to get away from the loud halls of campus and destress among nature. It is truly one of the best kept secrets in these halls.
