A stress-free holiday for NAIT students
By Greyson Brunelle on December 10, 2025
With winter settling in, it’s time to embrace the holiday spirit. Whether you’re from Edmonton or spending the season away from loved ones, there’s no shortage of festive activities to spark some joy. The holidays can be stressful, and after a long semester, it’s the perfect moment to unwind. Here are a few events happening around the city.
Candy Cane Lane:
For nearly 50 years, Edmontonians have admired the lights and decorations along Candy Cane Lane. The community-led event partners with the Edmonton Food Bank to help spread cheer and support residents in need. Candy Cane Lane runs along 148 St. from 92 Ave. to 99 Ave. Lights come on at dusk and stay lit until 11 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring a donation.
Edmonton Christmas Market:
Step into a world of holiday spirit at the Edmonton Christmas Market, held at Fort Edmonton Park from Nov. 29 to Dec. 31. Tickets are $23.50. With a wide range of activities and entertainment, it’s a seasonal event worth experiencing.
Canada vs. U.S.A. Rivalry Series:
If hockey is more your speed, catch one of the sport’s greatest rivalries when the Canadian and American women’s national teams face off in Edmonton. These will be the last local games before the teams meet again at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. Matches take place Dec. 10 and 13. Get your tickets now before its too late!
Die Harsh: A Christmas Musical:
Fans of Die Hard can revisit the holiday classic with a twist. Die Harsh is a parody musical retelling of the film, following John McClane as he battles Hans Gruber and his group of mercenaries who have taken over an office building with McClane’s wife inside. Performances run from Dec. 11 to 28.
Zoominescence:
Head to the Edmonton Valley Zoo for Zoominescence, a festival of artistic light installations that celebrates creativity and community spirit. The event runs from Dec. 5 to Jan. 4, 2026.
Hopefully this helped you fill your schedule while you are away from NAIT this holiday season.
