5 Ways to Celebrate Self-Love on Valentine’s Day

By Kira Braucht on January 26, 2023

Valentine’s Day is coming up next week and it has a reputation for only being about romantic love. A lot of people hate Valentine’s Day because they feel alone or feel there’s too much pressure put on it to be perfect, but Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, it might just turn into your favourite holiday if you make it about the love you have for your friends, family and yourself. Here are five things you can do to celebrate yourself this Valentine’s Day!

1. Make yourself a Valentine-themed meal

Whether its breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can make the day special by making Valentine’s Day themed meal, like using food colouring to make yourself pink pancakes or perhaps making yourself a heart-shaped pizza for dinner.

2. Have a pamper evening

Draw a bath, light a candle, paint your nails or put on a face mask. A nice evening to yourself is something everyone can use.

3. Read

Grab a book and find somewhere nice to read. It’s a quiet and calming activity that gives you a break from your phone.

4. Have a picnic

A picnic is a great way to relax outside, or inside if you live somewhere cold, and eat a nice meal. Whether it’s a cute charcuterie board or a bunch of junk food, you can have a great time by yourself or with some friends with a Valentine’s themed picnic.

5. Let your family and friends know you care about them

Valentine’s Day is a day that can be used to let people know you love them. Go buy your parent a nice gift or hang out with your friends. Usually, the most important love is the kind that comes from your non-romantic relationships and at least once in a while, you should let those people know you care about them.
