Ooks find stability just in time for playoffs

Trevor Zemlak has been a key component of the NAIT men’s volleyball team for the past three seasons. He transferred to NAIT in his second year after playing in BC and has started for the Ooks ever since. That is until this year when Trevor decided to focus on his schooling for a semester, as he was feeling the pressures of being a student athlete.
“Just entering a new program I wanted to take some time and just focus down on my studies and then kinda see where the team was at.”
After one semester of sitting in the stands, Trevor decided to return to the court and help the young Ooks team with a solid playoff push. Coach Doug Anton is pleased Trevor decided to return and says that along with his passing skills, Trevor brings a veteran calmness that the team has been lacking.
“He’s got a lot of experience, he’s started for our program for three years and he’s spent a lot of time in the ACAC, he knows the game and he has that leadership and stability I think that he brings is a big asset for sure,” said coach Anton.
Although Trevor finds it tough to step into a leadership role after missing the first half of the season, coach Anton says that adding his calm demeanour and presence to the floor provides the leadership needed.
Heading into the final weeks of the regular season, the Ooks are within striking distance of second place in the North and are hoping to finish off their last two weekends strong, to head into the playoffs with some confidence.
