NAITSA hosts community volunteer fair for students

By Avalina Zenari on October 16, 2024

NAIT students have the opportunity to connect with local volunteer organizations at the annual NAITSA (NAIT Students’ Association) volunteer fair, which is being held this week. The event takes place at the CAT Crossing on Oct. 16 and in the South Lobby on Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The fair emphasizes the importance of community engagement and provides students with a chance to gain volunteer experience.

“The event is really to connect students to nonprofit organizations and to educate them on the opportunities they have with us, with NAITSA,” said NAITSA volunteer coordinator Christian Kruchak.

Local organizations, including Canadian Blood Services, Norwood Capital Care, Edmonton’s Food Bank and The Mustard Seed, are among the groups students can engage with. NAITSA also has a booth to inform students about on-campus volunteer roles

“Volunteering is one of the most valuable things you can do. It gives you soft skills, the ability to meet new friends and interactions you wouldn’t have otherwise.”

The next volunteer fair will be held in the new year.
