NAIT’s Jill of All Trades allows young women to learn about the trades

The Jill of All Trades is an event for young women to connect with skilled people in different trades. They got the chance to get some hands-on experience with different trades such as:

  • Construction
  • Mechanical installations
  • Transportation
  • Manufacturing, fabrication and maintenence
  • Electrical installations
  • Industrial automation and design
Backpacks were given out to participants attending the Jill of All Trades.
The girls gathered in the Shaw Theatre before the day began.
Presenters shared information about what opportunities are at NAIT.
There were a variety of booths in the gym with unique exhibits to learn something new.
This impressive Lego crane demonstrates the different kinds of machines that can be operated.
There were a variety of different tools to look at and get some hands-on experience with.
This display demonstrates how a pig trap would get pushed through a pope on a much smaller scale than an actual pipe.
The pig trap gets pushed by oil through the pipe to clean it.
There was also an auto-body station where the girls could test out what it would be like painting cars.
There was even an opportunity to test out some industrial heavy equipment technology to see what it would be like to use equipment in the field.
