NAIT shows support for Pink Shirt Day

By jaiden rowe on February 25, 2026

Students and staff at NAIT wore pink shirts Wednesday to mark Pink Shirt Day, a nationwide movement promoting kindness and inclusion.

At NAIT, the day focuses on student mental health, emphasizing the importance of making students feel supported, heard and safe while encouraging open conversations about bullying.

“We have peer supporters, which are other students helping other students anonymously, chatting with them and getting that support,” said Teaira Current, vice-president internal of the NAIT Students’ Association.

Current says wearing pink across the school allows students to see who stands with them, helping them feel seen and supported by their peers.

“It’s about creating a campus where everyone knows they’re not alone.”

Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 in Nova Scotia after a ninth-grade student got bullied for wearing a pink shirt on the first day of school.
