Edmonton Stingers season ticket drive begins

By Admin User on December 7, 2018

Edmonton hasn’t had a professional basketball team since 2012, but the newest addition to the pro sports scene in Edmonton is looking to generate excitement with its inaugural season ticket drive.

The Edmonton Stingers will be part of the Canadian Elite Basketball League, a new organization featuring six teams across Canada. The league will be made up of three teams in Western Canada and the other three teams will be located in Ontario.

The teams will play a 20 game season starting in May, as well as playoffs and a championship series in August.

Each team will be made up of a collection of players from Canada, as well as countries and leagues across the world. Teams will be able to build a ten man roster through a U Sports draft, as well as taking players from the NCAA, NBA G League and leagues in Europe. The aim of the league is to function as a developmental league, looking to provide high-quality talent with an opportunity to play and hone their skills.

The games will have ten minute quarters, which Kail Schofield, the Stingers Director of Business Operations thinks will help game attendance by letting people have more free time.

“When you go to a major sporting event now, a lot of the time you are devoting three or four hours to that event which really becomes cumbersome.”

The Stingers are also hoping that affordable pricing will get Edmontonians interested. Season ticket packages will start at $199 at the bottom end and courtside season tickets will go for $750.

Edmonton Stinger season tickets are now available through Ticketmaster.
