Tori Madu was born in Edmonton, but grew up in the small town of Rimbey, Alberta where her family owned and operated a golf course for 10 years. She is currently completing her third semester of the NAIT broadcasting program.
From a young age, Tori was always fascinated with the news. In fact, she says (blushing), "Josh Classen was my first TV crush." Journalism has always been of great interest to her, drawing inspiration from celebrated personalities like Peter Mansbridge, as well as several family members. One in particular is her aunt, Barbara McLeod, who has won several awards for her writing and, up until a few years ago, owned the Yukon News in Whitehorse with her husband. Tori attributes her strong writing skills to her aunt.
When Tori isn't gathering stories for NAIT Newswatch, you'll find her on her family's farm near Crestomere, Alberta, or curled up in bed listening to Led Zeppelin records and drinking coffee.
Keep your eyes peeled to see Tori on this fall's edition of NAIT Newswatch.
