NAIT students toss pies on Pi Day

By Admin User on March 27, 2017

Normally math isn’t too celebrated in our everyday normal lives but on Tuesday, NAIT students made an exception as they celebrated Pi day in an unusual way. Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 as the date lines up to be 3.14 and gets people talking about the mathematical equation!

Here at NAIT, students celebrated the day not by doing equations but by donating money to a good cause, and having some fun doing it. Students were given a chance to throw a pie at their favourite NAITSA representative for a five dollar donation, with the proceeds going towards NAIT’s Food Centre.  The pies consisted of of whipped cream and sparkles.

The first good sport was NAITSA president John Perozok. “I just came from a meeting where it was not at all about, fun you could say, so this change of pace is a lot of fun.”

Although Perozok got a little messy, he says it’s events like these that he looks forward to.

I think it adds to the campus life of everything, it’s kind of a fun thing to see on campus we’ve had a few staff throwing them instead of students so its been a lot of fun.”

At the end of the day, the event raised $120 for NAIT’s food bank.
